Ive had both in the A4, neither engine gave any trouble, but the 1.9 130BHP engine is significantly more economical than the 2.0 TDI 140. Legend has it that the 2.0TDI is not as good, but I see no other evidence of this, in fact the 2.0 TDI has an improved CAM belt setup that is less prone to failure than the 1.9 engine I think.
